Time to Aerate Your Lawn

Aerate the Lawn

Your lawns can become compacted and weedy after the long summer heat. Aerating the lawn lets moisture and nutrients into the soil so you can begin to rejuvenate your lawn so it looks lush and green all year round.

To aerate the lawn follow these steps:

  1. Mow your lawn
  2. Use a garden fork, hire a powered aerator or use some other item to spike into your lawn and soil.
  3. Top dress with a fine layer of coarse sand or loam.
  4. Fertilize.
  5. Depending on the moisture content of your ground you may need to also use hose-on soil wetting agent.
